- Every 5 days, feed the starter three tablespoons immediately potatoes, three tablespoons sugar and 1 cup water. If starter is to be used in a recipe, permit the fed starter rest at room temperature 6 hours earlier than use. If starter is not being utilized in a recipe, maintain refrigerated and discard 1 cup of starter after every feeding.
